I mentioned last week I was going in for a colonoscopy this past Monday and I am thrilled to report that the results of that procedure show I am in Deep Remission!!!! This means that not only did things look good to the naked eye but there was no evidence of inflammation on a microscopic level.
I went undiagnosed for a long time and when I think back to all the symptoms I experienced over the years that I’m now living without it’s pretty remarkable. Some of my symptoms included multiple bouts of bursitis, eczema, erythema nodosum, blood clots, hemorrhoidectomy, fissure, etc and I experienced all that before anyone gave me the Crohn’s diagnosis!
How was I able to achieve Deep Remission? It was primarily due to combination pharmaceutical therapy and regimen from rectal surgeon, but I also worked with an amazing naturopathic doctor that gave me the knowledge of my food sensitivities which contributed to inflammation in my body. My naturopathic doctor also helped with all the mental aspects this disease has impacted, like combating depression and anxiety. Finally none if this could’ve been possible without the support of my husband, Ken, who kept humor alive and took on extra responsibilities when I was too ill to contribute.
I am excited to have the option of living a “normal” life and be able to start planning things for the first time in what feels like eons.
